¿Qué fue lo que le motivó estudiar Obstetricia y Puericultura en la UV?

Desde siempre tuve preferencia personal por desempeñarme en el área de la salud, estuve motivado por la admiración por la biología y por el anhelo personal de servir a los demás a través de mi trabajo, y en específico de obstetricia por la belleza de acompañar a mujeres y familias en un momento tan único e irrepetible como la llegada de un nuevo ser.

¿Qué consejo le daría a alguien que quiere o está estudiando Obstetricia y Puericultura actualmente?

Que persiga sus sueños, que busque trabajar en el área que lo o la complete, que se forme y se capacite lo máximo posible, para transformarse en un buen profesional, responsable con las y los usuarios y con nuestro entorno en general.

¿Qué desafíos tienen las futuras generaciones de Matronas(es)?

Investigación, diversificación y especialización profesional, alteridad y participación social.

¿Qué recuerdos tiene como estudiante de la Escuela de Obstetricia y Puericultura de la UV?

Los mejores, recuerdo una escuela comprometida con los estudiantes, en donde los docentes se esforzaban para entregar lo mejor de sí a los alumnos, con el afán de que pudieramos alcanzar ser buenos profesionales y nuestro mejor potencial.

¿Qué valora de la formación recibida en la Escuela de Obstetricia y Puericultura de la UV?

Independiente que el aspecto teórico práctico recibido fue muy potente, creo que el aspecto valórico fue tanto o más importante; recuerdo que mis docentes planteaban siempre inquietudes que nos hacian pensar en el tipo de profesional que uno debiera ser, haciendo énfasis siempre a que nos debíamos caracterizar por un sello de integralidad, y eso nos lo traspasaban en cada cátedra y oportunidad que hubiese.

¿Cómo se empieza una carrera como la suya después de egresar de la Escuela de Obstetricia y Puericultura de la UV?

En una primera y muy importante etapa, me desempeñe en el área clínica, en neonatología, en ese periodo fui creciendo como profesional, alcanzando metas personales y posteriormente, formándome en gestión en salud, pues ya había identificado que era un área de mucho interés para mi. Luego de finalizar un magister en gestión, comencé a soñar con la oportunidad de dirigir un equipo de salud, traspasando mis anhelos de una mejor salud para nuestras usuarias y haciendome parte de un cambio positivo en nuestro entorno, y ese sueño se cumplió el año 2015, cuando pude concretarlo y asumir el trabajo que actualmente tengo, en el Hospital Carlos Van Buren de Valparaiso, como Gestor de Matronería.
